PIECES is a student driven organisation with the aim of improving the education of children in developing countries. By teaching English to these highly motivated and enthusiastic kids, we offer them a path to a better future with more opportunities. This is only possible with the help of our volunteers who travel to the country and work directly with the kids to improve their English skills, offering cultural exchange and supporting them to become capable leaders in their societies. It is important to us that we foster growth in children, but also in our volunteers.
That means volunteers must not pay to participate in the projects and we make all the necessary arrangements for them on site including providing acommodation. Teaching projects are a great opportunity for students to enlarge their abilities in leading a group, working in a team, but also for them to grow personally. Therefore, we support students in every possible way to guarantee a successful experience for both the children and our volunteers.
Creating Possibilities through Inspiration and Empowerment building Character with Education and a Smile.
Beside the volunteers having a direct impact on the kids, there is a team of 29 members working year-round for PIECES in St. Gallen. Their tasks range from searching for sponsors to improving the teaching material, recruiting and training volunteers to arranging the actual projects. The PIECES team is highly dedicated and wants to make a difference in the life youth worldwide. Working for PIECES, St Gallen students have the chance to use their knowledge, grow personally and experience something unique- both personally gratifying and enriching for others. Each PIECES member wants to make a social impact and bring a smile to a child`s face.
